San Marino

Welcome to San Marino! San Marino is one of the oldest republics in the world and a beautiful destination for a vacation in Italy. With its picturesque landscapes and hidden location in the mountains, it is a place not to be missed.

Start your trip in the capital of the region, the city of San Marino. With its 5,500 inhabitants, San Marino is one of the smallest nations in the world. The city is famous for its medieval architecture and narrow streets that lead to impressive views of the surrounding mountains. It is best to start your day with a visit to the Fortress of Saint Marino. While in town, be sure to also visit the famous marketplace, where you can find a variety of local products.

Continue on to the town of Borgo Maggiore, which has a population of nearly 5,000. This picturesque town has a long history dating back to Roman times. The church of Santa Maria della Vittoria, the ancient castle and the old subway station are just some of the many attractions you can discover here.

Then we’ll make our way to Domagnano, a town of about 1,600 people. Visit the Museum of the Republic of San Marino and the old castle ruins, which offer an incredible panorama of the surrounding mountains. The church of Santa Maria Assunta, set in the middle of a romantic garden, is also particularly worth seeing.

The last stop of your trip is the town of Serravalle, which has about 2,400 inhabitants. This town has many impressive buildings, including the church of Santa Croce, a theater and a ruined castle. Another highlight is the huge amusement park, which offers a perfect selection of leisure activities for the whole family.

Besides all the sights, San Marino also offers many delicious specialties. Be sure to try the “Torta Tre Monti”, a traditional cake with hazelnut, chocolate and marzipan filling, named after the three mountains of the Republic. In the evening we suggest you visit a local trattoria to taste the best local dishes.

We hope that now you have an idea of how wonderful San Marino is. We wish you a wonderful trip and a lot of fun in the Republic!
